Many old friends from School were united at the Old Augustinians Black-Tie dinner at the National Liberal Club on 16th June to commemorate the Golden Anniversary of our School moving from Ramsgate to Westgate.

Blessed with fine weather, guests enjoyed a pre-dinner reception on the Terrace overlooking the River Thames and Embankment Gardens before moving into the historic David Lloyd George Room for Dinner. Jude Akuwudike, who kindly hosted for the evening where guests heard a welcome speech from OA Chairman, Andrew Sharp where he reminder those present that it was the 5th Anniversary to the day of the passing for Fr. Benedict Austin, former Housemaster, Principal and OA Chaplain. Greeting were given from Jennifer Godwin, the Les Oiseaux Old Girls Association and OA Archivist Peter West gave the vote of thanks.

Rear Admiral John Weale our main speaker gave an entertaining speech recalling his time at the School. John then presented our former Headteacher, Kevin Doherty, and our former Head Boy and later Principal, Canon Brian Coyle, with an award for their outstanding service to our School. Kevin Doherty delivered a moving response which received a standing ovation.

OA President, Chris Horsburgh gave the Toast to the Queen, the School, Absent Friends and to the Old Augustinians. Jude Akuwudike led guests in the singing of the School Song. Also present were Danielle Lancefield and Mike Walters, the Head Teachers of what became our successor School, the Ursuline College at Westgate on Sea, which is supported by the OA's.

Commenting on the event, the OA Chairman, Andrew Sharp said "Even though our School closed 27 years ago, our fellowship and friendship remains strong, which is why so many attended - even from as far afield as the USA and Australia. We were pleased the events went so well."
